Blanketing / Inerting / Purging

Much like flare stacks, hydrocarbon storage tanks must also be protected against a buildup of explosive mixtures. Nitrogen is used as a blanket over the hydrocarbons, maintaining a positive pressure in the tanks and preventing air ingress.

Blanketing applications can be both low pressure and high pressure, and can be found in both onshore and offshore environments.
