| Why is Air Compressed? |
| Quite simply, air is compressed to make it do work. In its compressed state, air is stored energy. When properly harnessed, air can be made to perform many useful tasks as it expands from high pressure to a lower pressure. For paintball, air makes for an excellent propellant. |
| What is Nitrogen? |
| Nitrogen is an inert gas found abundantly in the atmosphere. A pure nitrogen environment will not support combustion or life. |
| Are Air and Nitrogen the same? |
| Although air and nitrogen are used interchangeably in paintball, they are not the same. Pure nitrogen must be purchased from a gas supplier in cylinders. |
| What is CO2? |
| Carbon Dioxide (CO2) is a non-flammable, colorless and odorless gas with a slightly acidic taste. There are many uses for CO2 such as carbonation of beverages, refrigeration (dry ice), fire extinguishing and as a propellant for gas-powered target shooting pistols and rifles and paintball markers. It is relatively inert and is non-reactive with many materials. Carbon dioxide is produced in a variety of ways. Bulk quantities of carbon dioxide are usually stored and shipped as liquid. |
