SUMMARY
BAUER COMPRESSORS INC. is currently seeking a full-time Supply Chain Planner.
This position plans and schedules assigned product to meet customer needs and is responsible for reviewing requirements, releasing orders to suppliers, and expediting as necessary to ensure on time delivery of a quality product. This position also establishes safety stocks, schedules quantities and deliveries to meet/exceed inventory turns goals.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES
Include the following, but other duties may be assigned.
- Reviews requirements for assigned product, making changes as necessary, then releases/firms planned orders.
- Tracks orders to ensure on time delivery.
- Maintains and updates supplier lead times.
- Anticipates and corrects exposures (proactive) that potentially delay supplier deliveries and, if the delay is unavoidable, immediately alerts Master Scheduler of which product will be late.
- Drives just-in-time principles (decreased quantities, increased delivery frequency, standard packaging) to increase inventory turns, decrease carrying costs, and increase inventory accuracy/control.
- Works with suppliers, providing updated forecasts/ requirements as necessary to ensure there is sufficient capacity and resources.
- Updates safety stocks within specified schedule using MAD calculations.
- Maintains and updates Supplier Performance Metrics, notifying suppliers when their performance falls below standard.
- Provides leadership for supply chain kaizen events and improvement activities.
- Required to participate in year-end fiscal inventory during Winter Shutdown (as scheduled by senior management).
NONESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Maintains productive relationships with suppliers and assist them in driving lead time and cost reductions.
- Performs co-worker’s job functions during absences within the department.
- Maintains work environment in accordance with Lean 5S standards and performs tasks in accordance with company safety standards. Drives continuous improvement.
- Performs tasks in accordance with ISO Quality Standards
- Assists with inventory control related functions when required.
- Ongoing training to keep abreast of current trends in Supply Chain Management.
- Other duties as assigned.
ESSENTIAL SKILLS & EXPERIENCE
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. - A minimum of 3 years experience in relevant supply chain functions.
- APICS certification strongly preferred and will be required within 1 year of full-time employment.
- Demonstrated proficiency in using an ERP system and Microsoft Office programs.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- The ability to work under deadline situations and flexibility to react to ever-changing priorities.
- Self-motivated individual that can work with minimal supervision.
VALUED BUT NOT REQUIRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCE
- A bachelor’s degree in Business/Operations Management is preferred.
- A Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited university in business/operations management can be substituted for 2 years work experience.
- Associate’s Degree in related field from an accredited two-year college in business/operations management can be substituted for 1 year work experience.

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand, walk, use of eyes for close vision, use hands, fingers, grasp, handle, reach, listen, talk and may need to talk on the telephone while taking notes. Occasionally the employee must lift and/or move up to 25 pounds or ask for assistance with lifting. Normal work schedule is Monday thru Friday, 8:00am to 5:00pm. The employee will be required to wear Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) in accordance with company safety policies and procedures.
