POSITION SUMMARY

BAUER, a world leader in the field of high pressure compressor systems, is in search of a Material Handler to join its Norfolk, VA based manufacturing facility.  The storeroom Material Handler is to handle materials that are incoming or outgoing to production lines or stock locations in accordance to the quality procedures as outlined by Bauer Compressors, Inc.

JOB FUNCTIONS

Include the following, but other duties may be assigned.

  • Deliver materials to proper locations within the facility.
  • Issue and assign lot controlled items in Made2Manage software.
  • Pick jobs in accordance with job order requirements.
  • Feed production lines with pulled jobs in accordance to master schedule.
  • Deliver and pick up parts locally.
  • Serve as back-up to other positions in the storeroom as needed.
  • General housekeeping.
  • Maintain organization of the pallet racking and small part areas in storeroom.

ESSENTIAL SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Must hold an unexpired driver’s license and have good driving record.
  • High school diploma or a general education degree (GED) required.
  • Minimum of six months experience in warehouse/storeroom functions.

VALUED BUT NOT REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Forklift experience or the ability to obtain a forklift license
  • Ability to navigate on computers

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands, fingers, handle, or grasp; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and talk or hear. Vision abilities required. The employee must be able to life 30 pounds without assistance and, on occasion, lift and/or move up to 75 pounds or ask for assistance with lifting.

Work hours are Monday through Friday, 7:00am-3:30pm.  Occasional overtime and weekend hours will be required. Work conditions may include elevated noise levels requiring hearing protection, exposure to smoke, and extreme temperatures, both high and low.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts; fumes or airborne particles, risk of electrical shock. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.

The employee may be required to wear safety glasses, hearing protection, a respirator, and/or a dust mask depending upon the nature of the work performed.
