The following information is valid for all Bauer communications programs running under windows 98 and higher.
The simplest way to add com port capabilty ( or expand your single com port laptop to include a com2 is to purchase a USB/Serial portable adapter. The adapter will come with a CD that loads the required drivers automatically (unless you plug the adapter in first at which point the operating system will prompt with the "New Hardware Found" and ask where your drivers are.) Allow the drivers to load and the adapter will be recognized when it is plugged into the USB port from that time onward.
Important After the adapter is plugged in, open your control panel and select "System". Then open the device manager and expand the "Ports (COM & LPT)" section. When the adapter is plugged in, your will see an additional entry that says "Serial on USB (COM#)" with the # being the number of the com port that is being emulated. Record this number and the next time you run the BCLink or NCUView software to monitor your Bauer System, place this number in the COM Port selection box. Note: Some older versions of the interface software will need to be closed down and restarted in order for the COM port change to take effect.
