This information bulletin affects - All Bauer Models w/ Mitsubishi FX1N Controllers

The following information describes method for upgrading the operating program in your Bauer Unit utilizing a FX1N-EEPROM-8L program loader.
Note: Prior to connecting the program loader to the PLC, one should verify the write protect switch is placed in the ON position.

To run a new program temporarily, keeping original program intact.

1) Turn the power to the unit off.
2) Remove the Serial cable from the 9 pin connector on the front of the PLC.
3) Pull the plastic cover plate from the front of the PLC exposing the Serial communication card.
4) Align the brown connector on the back of the Program loader with the vertical slot on the front of the serial communication card and lightly push to seat.
Notice that the program loader does not fit in place of the front cover but instead overlaps the front of the PLC

5) Reconnect the serial cable to the 9 pin serial port and power the system.

Caution:

Once the program loader (EEPROM) is placed in the front of the PLC and powered, you will notice both the WR (write) and RD (read) lights flash once. The PLC is now running the program in the EEPROM while the original program remains intact in the PLC internal memory. IF the System is powered down and the program loader removed the PLC will revert to the original program. It is always recommended that the unit be operated in this manner and fully tested prior to making the upgrade permanent. Depending on the type of upgrade, the new program will use all the setpoints stored in the PLC. It is recommended for compressor applications and system that do not have an interactive touch screen installed that the BC_LINK.exe program be used to connect to the PLC and verify setpoints. Gas controllers that do not have a touch screen installed can use NcuView.exe

To make the change permanent.

Once the system has been tested and you are comfortable that the system is performing satisfactorily with the new program the Program in the EEPROM can be transferred to the PLC memory.

7) Move the RUN/Stop switch on the front of the PLC to the stop position.
(8) Press the 8L->PLC button on the front of the EEPROM once. The WR light will illuminate to indicate that the memory transfer can take place.
(9) Press the 8L->PLC button once again. The wr light will begin to flicker indicating that the memory is being transferred .
(10) Once the Wr light stops flickering and goes out, the transfer is complete. The system must be powered down to removed the EEPROM. Once the EEPROM is removed, turn the RUN/STOP switch to the RUN position and power the system.
