This information bulletin affects - NCU2 2002

The interface connector (24 pin Harting) has been modified slightly for the new style controller. This modification was made to separate the interface signals for the individual gas channels as the new style NCU has been designed to interface with two molding machines. This in effect makes the NCU two act as two NCU1 units. When used as an NCU2, The associated inputs for channel one should be jumped to the matching inputs for channel 2.

Note: all input contacts are to be "dry type" contact with not external voltage connected.

InputPin #'sDescription
1 1-13Channel 1 Initiate contact
22-14Channel 1 Cycle kill
33-15Channel 1 Mold closed
44-16Channel 1 Safety circuit
5 5-17Channel 1 enable
6 6-18Channel 2 Initiate contact
7 7-19Channel 2 Cycle kill
8 8-20Channel 2 Mold closed
9 9-21Channel 2 Safety circuit
10 10-22Channel 2 enable
11 11-23Output 1*
12 12-24Output 2*

* These dry contacts will close X seconds after each channel is initiated were X is the seconds entered in the Setup screen. Output one fuctions X seconds after channel one latches and Output two functions X seconds after channel two latches. (note that the time entered for channel 1 may differ from the time entered for channel 2)

Intitiate Contact: While no cycle is currently in progress, closing this input will start a new cycle. This contact can be closed momentarily or closed and held closed for the cycle duration.

Cycle Kill: Closing this input will send a kill cycle signal to the controller. This contact should remain open for normal service.

Mold closed: The controller treats this input as a standard safety input which must be closed in order to initiate a cycle, and will kill the cycle if opened during same. If a purge cycle is due, purging will take place upon cycle end when this input opens. Note: The operator safety gate and purge shield must be closed for purging to take place.

Safety Circuit: This input should be wired through the Purge guard swith and the operator guard switch (and any other machine safety contacts) in series. This input must be closed for a cycle to start and continue and for a purge to take place.

Channel enable: These contacts must be closed (either jumped on the plug connector or closed by the molding machine) in order to allow the controller to send a signal to its outputs.
